Winning Triple Crown Betting

Talk of the next horse that could potentially win the Triple Crown usually begins at the conclusion of the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile, because the winner of that prestigious race will usually be seen in the first leg of the Triple Crown, the Kentucky Derby. However, it takes much more to become a Triple Crown champion than just winning the Kentucky Derby. The horse that wins the Kentucky Derby must also have the endurance to win the Preakness Stakes and Belmont Stakes; all within six weeks of each other. So if you are planning to do some Triple Crown betting this year – which is just a month away from now. You should know the odds and information about the three races that consist the Triple Crown and not Kentucky Derby only. Here are some general information about Kentucky Derby, Preakness stakes and Belmont Stakes.

The Kentucky Derby was first run in 1875 and is run at Churchill race course. It is often referred to as the Run for the Roses because the winner of the race will be draped with a blanket of red roses. It is often called the most exciting two minutes in sports and has a huge follower from all over the world. The Kentucky Derby is full of prestige and traditions and it is said that if a horse did well here, it has a chance to win the Triple crown or at least be one of the favorites in Triple Crown Betting; yet, a horse destined to win the Triple Crown will have to prevail in two more Grade 1 Stakes races.

The Preakness Stakes is the second leg of the Thoroughbred Triple Crown and is the shortest of the three races at nine furlongs. Horses that compete in the Kentucky Derby will only have two weeks to prepare for the Preakness Stakes, which makes it much more difficult for a horse that ran in the Derby to compete against fresh horses that did not compete in the Derby. The Preakness Stakes is often referred to as the Run for the Black Eyed Susan’s and is run at Pimlico Race Course. After the horses have completed the Preakness Stakes, they will travel to New York for the running of the final race of the Triple Crown, the Belmont Stakes.

The Belmont Stakes is often referred to as the Run for the Carnations and is considered to be the most difficult of the three Triple Crown races because it is the last of the three races and it is the longest race. Most of the horses that compete in the Belmont stakes have never run a mile and a half and are not prepared for such a test of endurance.

History was made in 2007 when a filly by the name of Rags to Riches became the only third filly in history to win the prestigious race. She was also the first filly to win the race in over one hundred years. There has not been a Triple Crown winner in thirty years and only time will tell if that dry spell will end this year. Do you believe that this year is the year for a Triple crown winner? Do you already have your favorite horses to bet on Triple Crown? Then what else are you waiting for.
